3-Day Murchison Falls National Park Safari
Journey overview
Spend three days experiencing Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest national park and one of its most dramatic safari landscapes. The route focuses on the Victoria Nile, savannah wildlife and the waterfall itself. Day-by-day itinerary
Route: Entebbe / Kampala → Murchison Falls National Park → Entebbe / Kampala
Day 1
Entebbe / Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park
The morning starts in Entebbe / Kampala, from where you continue overland to Murchison Falls National Park, travelling north through Ziwa and the Masindi road country. Arrival is followed by check-in and a first drive into open savanna, borassus palms and the Victoria Nile forcing through a narrow rock gorge. There is the possibility of seeing elephant, giraffe, lion, hippo, crocodile and Uganda kob, depending on movement and conditions on the day. At Murchison the Nile is squeezed through a gap only a few metres wide before dropping to the valley below, and a launch trip runs to the base of the falls. This is a joining departure, so the safari vehicle is shared with other guests. Dinner and overnight are at your camp or lodge in Murchison Falls National Park.
Day 2
Full-Day Murchison Falls National Park Safari
You have a complete day in Murchison Falls National Park, starting early while the air is still cool and animals are active. Much of the day is spent among open savanna, borassus palms and the Victoria Nile forcing through a narrow rock gorge. There is the possibility of seeing elephant, giraffe, lion, hippo, crocodile and Uganda kob, though wild sightings are never guaranteed. Days here commonly pair a northern-bank game drive with an afternoon boat trip on the Nile. At Murchison the Nile is squeezed through a gap only a few metres wide before dropping to the valley below, and a launch trip runs to the base of the falls. This is a joining departure, so the safari vehicle is shared with other guests. You return to your camp or lodge for dinner and a second night at Murchison Falls National Park.
Day 3
Murchison Falls to Entebbe / Kampala
Breakfast is taken before you set out from Murchison Falls for the drive to Entebbe / Kampala, following the lakeshore road from Kampala. Arrival is followed by check-in and a first drive into the lakeside town on the Lake Victoria shore that serves Uganda's international airport. Entebbe sits on a peninsula in Lake Victoria and is the standard entry and exit point for Ugandan itineraries. Arrival back is normally in the afternoon, with a drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
