Day 1
Nairobi to Masai Mara
Bags are loaded after breakfast and you depart Nairobi bound for Masai Mara, descending the wall of the Great Rift Valley and passing through Narok and Maasai farming country. Lunch and check-in come first, then an afternoon drive through open savanna grassland, acacia stands and the rolling country of the greater Mara ecosystem. Wildlife commonly associated with this area includes lion, cheetah, elephant, giraffe, buffalo and large herds of plains game. The reserve is best known for its big cat densities, and between roughly July and October the wildebeest migration commonly moves through the ecosystem. This is a joining departure, so the safari vehicle is shared with other guests. Dinner is served at your Masai Mara camp or lodge, where you spend the night.
Day 2
Masai Mara to Nairobi
The morning starts in Masai Mara, from where you continue overland to Nairobi, returning through the highland approaches to the city. You arrive in time to settle in, and the day continues with a game drive across Kenya's highland capital and the usual start and end point for road safaris. Nairobi is the arrival and departure hub for most Kenyan safari itineraries. The day ends with a drop-off in Nairobi at your hotel or the airport.

Is two days enough for a Masai Mara safari?
Two days works well for travellers with very limited time, but it is a fast-paced itinerary with less time inside the Mara than a three- or four-day safari. If wildlife viewing is the main purpose of your trip, a longer stay gives you more flexibility.
Can I see the Big Five on this safari?
The Masai Mara supports an exceptional variety of wildlife, including members of the Big Five, but sightings are natural and cannot be guaranteed on any safari.
Is the Great Migration guaranteed on a two-day safari?
