Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Arusha or Moshi

    Meet the mountain team, complete the briefing and equipment check, and prepare for the Lemosho route.

  2. Day 2

    Londorossi / Lemosho to Mti Mkubwa

    Complete registration and hike through the forest to Mti Mkubwa.

  3. Day 3

    Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1

    Leave the forest and climb onto the Shira Plateau to Shira 1.

  4. Day 4

    Shira 1 to Shira 2

    Cross the plateau at a measured pace to Shira 2.

  5. Day 5

    Shira 2 via Lava Tower to Barranco

    Climb toward Lava Tower for acclimatisation, then descend to Barranco.

  6. Day 6

    Barranco to Karanga

    Cross the Barranco Wall and continue to Karanga Camp.

  7. Day 7

    Karanga to Barafu

    Ascend to Barafu Camp and prepare for summit night.

  8. Day 8

    Barafu to Uhuru Peak Attempt and Mweka

    Attempt the summit when conditions permit, then descend to Mweka Camp.

  9. Day 9

    Mweka to Mweka Gate

    Complete the descent to Mweka Gate and transfer to Arusha or Moshi.
